The Oracle JDeveloper 10g Handbook was a book I co-authored in 2004 with my now-colleague Peter Koletzke and Dr. Paul Dorsey. The book was primarily written gainst Oracle JDeveloper Release 10.1.2. Some of the information—particularly the information about ADF Business Components covered in Part II—is still fairly current, and I’m unaware of another published book that treats ADF Business Components as thoroughly.
However, you should be aware that, at the view and controller level, the current production release of JDeveloper (10.1.3) is radically different from 10.1.2. The move from Struts to JavaServer Faces technology, and from UIX to ADF Faces, has made much of the Oracle JDeveloper 10g Handbook inapplicable to the current version. If you’re looking for a book specifically oriented towards JDeveloper release 10.1.3, I would suggest looking at Oracle JDeveloper 10g for Forms & PL/SQL Developers: A Guide to Web Development with Oracle ADF, by Duncan Mills and my colleague Peter Koletzke.
As a warning: Please be aware that I’m no longer updating this section regularly. This is a 4-year-old book, after all, written about an earlier release of JDeveloper. Nowadays I’m spending more time on Oracle JDeveloper Fusion Development - A Handbook for 4GL Developers.
